If you're looking to buy a genuine luxury midsize crossover SUV without having to break the bank, the 2016 Lincoln MKX should be at the top of your list of models to consider. This year sees the Lincoln MKX enter its second-generation after originally launching in late 2006 as a 2007 model year.

The 2016 Lincoln MKX represents a complete redesign of the luxury crossover, and it's now better than it's ever been when it comes to moving people around in some considerable comfort. The all-new Lincoln MKX now features a quieter cabin, where that quietness is only broken by a Revel-powered premium sound system. This new-generation of the popular Lincoln MKX is now faster, more comfortable, smoother and more fuel-efficient than its predecessor, and that's really saying something.

Powering the 2016 Lincoln MKX is a powerful and versatile 3.7-liter TI-VCT V-6 engine, which develops 303 horsepower and 278 lb.-ft. of torque and is mated to the familiar 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle activation. The optional engine utilizes the same transmission, but the 2.7-liter, twin-turbo EcoBoost unit produces an impressive 335 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are available in all three trim levels of Premier, Select and Reserve, and all models are available with either front or all-wheel drivetrains.

Luxury vehicles have to come with plenty of standard equipment and features, and there's no shortage of either in the 2016 Lincoln MKX, even in entry-level form. Standard features include: dual-zone automatic climate control keyless ignition, remote start, leatherette upholstery, active noise control, a rearview camera and rear parking sensors. The mid-level Select trim adds the likes of leather seats, wood trim, 18-inch wheels, ambient lighting and a hands-free power tailgate. If you want to go all the way, Reserve trim ups the ante even further with 20-inch wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, blind-spot monitors, voice-activated navigation and plenty more besides.

Whichever trim level of 2016 Lincoln MKX you go for there's also an impressive lineup of available packages to tailor the vehicle to your specific requirements even more. There's stiff competition in this segment, but the all-new Lincoln MKX really does set a high standard, and at an attractive price.
